Behind the Brand: Jules Kae
Who says vegan leather has to compromise quality? Not us. We’ve been big supporters and fan-girls of cruelty-free and vegan leather accessory brand, Jules Kae, for some time now. Founder Andrea Posse upholds ethical standards with her line and places high importance on employing females to operate her business. It also doesn’t come as a surprise to us that Jules Kae has the PETA stamp of approval. It feels good to rock one of her chic bags or stylish belts knowing it doesn’t come at the price of our furry friends.
In our spring box, you’ll find a beautifully made crescent-shaped crossbody bag, perfect for storing all your everyday essentials. Read on and get to know more about the brand behind your new favorite accessory. We know you’ll love it just as much as we do.
In your own words, can you please describe the impetus of the brand, Jules Kae?
Jules Kae is an all female-owned and operated accessories brand founded by Andrea Posse in 2016. The brand was born out of a gap in the market for quality fashionable accessories that are attainable and support ethical values. We source premier, cruelty-free, vegan materials to ensure the longevity of our belts, bags, and small vegan leather goods. We make sleek and effortless bags for the on-the-go girl in today’s busy world. Our bags are all handcrafted and our brand is PETA approved.
What inspired you to start your own fashion brand?
The designer/owner Andrea Posse, has been in the accessories industry since 2006 and decided to start Jules Kae as she was finding it hard to shop for fun stand out accessories that would compliment any women’s basic jeans and a t-shirt look at an attainable price point. That later evolved into creating a brand that is also cruelty-free and uses vegan leather materials without compromising quality.
What put the Jules Kae name on the map? How has the initial style evolved since (if at all)?
Our LA showroom got us into better boutiques to start and then strategically placed us in majors like Nordstrom, Anthropologie, and Free People. Those note-worthy stores, along with a great influencer following helped get our initial momentum.
What influences the Jules Kae aesthetic and style?
We watch trend forecasts like The Zoe Report, and work with our showroom who is a key part of our collection plans every season as they connect with major stores all over the country. We pay attention to key upcoming directives from the most talented buyers and influencers, but also always want to create what’s wearable, ethical, and chic.
All the changes in the world have had a large impact on the products we design. Our needs have changed, so our brand is designed to keep our new normal in mind. We’re now offering a variety of essential PPE products that mix fashion with function.
What separates the Zola Bag (found in our spring curation) from the rest of your pieces?
The Zola Bag is one of our favorite shapes in our recent collection. The moon crescent shape is fun yet functional, fitting all your daily must-haves. Our classic braided accent (once seen on our customer-fave Charlotte Tote) has been carried over on this style, but now as a long adjustable strap. The entire detail is hand woven. This vegan leather material in particular, is buttery soft and wears in well over time.
Why is it so important to invest in high quality leather goods and accessories?
It is important to invest in high quality vegan leather goods because you want a bag that will last. Most fast fashion bags that are meant to be worn for just a season are not good for our environment and do not hold up over time. We believe quality over quantity is a fashion must so we put effort and thought into finding the best quality vegan materials available. We also focus on hardware that will give our bags the luxe look we know our customers love.
