If you don’t typically think of pearls as very modern, you’ve likely not seen styles like the necklaces, earrings, and bracelets we’ve got stocked in The Shoppe now (and offered at a members-only discount, we might add)! And if you’re wondering how to incorporate such pieces into your wardrobe this season, Fisher has some sage advice. “I think when a lot of people think of pearls, they think of the Audrey Hepburn or Marilyn Monroe pearl strand necklace,” she shares. “Or maybe it’s the simple pearl stud earring that everyone has in their jewelry box that comes to mind. Both beautiful uses of pearl, but iconic enough to feel dated. I think pearls are so much more than that.”
Instead, the designer suggests trying a fresher approach. “There are a million ways to incorporate them, and they don’t just come round, white, and in a strand,” she tells us. “I think we’ve managed to utilize pearls in a lot of interesting and unconventional ways, which gives them a modern feel. Sometimes, I’ll design something with a different stone, or no stone at all, and then I’ll imagine the piece with a pearl and wonder how I didn’t see it there from the start. I love using very small pearls as accents, or using irregular pearls, which can give a style a more organic feel.”
And while your image of pearls may put them in the “special occasion only” category, Fisher says that they are actually wearable for everyday! “Pearls are good in any situation,” she explains. “They of course look beautiful with a dress or gown, but they also look amazing with your favorite comfy sweater. We’re really excited about our pearl rings and earrings during the winter months, when we tend to be more bundled up. The pearl accents really pop next to gold, and it makes me feel luxuriously warm and cozy.”
