Choose Your Vintage Fashion Muse
Running low on style inspiration these days? Maybe it’s time to try looking back. Some of the most fashionable muses from the 60s, 70s, 80s, and beyond are just as relevant today as they were in their heyday. And with a few little tweaks, you can easily update their iconic looks to feel fresh in 2024.
Our CURATEUR-in-Chief Rachel Zoe is a huge fan of vintage fashion, so when it came time to design the sunglasses for our Fall 2024 Curation, it was only natural that she looked to some of her favorite icons, Penelope Tree and Sophia Loren. The British fashion model and the Italian actress both had some of the most memorable styles of their generations and they’re still inspiring others decades later. The sunnies were not only created with these two in mind, Rachel actually named them Penelope and Sophia in their honor! While our Penelope shades sold out in record time, you can still snag the latter (a super versatile, mod oval style) when you sign up for this seasonal box.
But there’s more where that came from! Besides the aforementioned icons, we’ve found a muse to match your desired aesthetic. Not only that, we’ve also pulled a few pieces straight from The Shoppe to help you embody their individual sense of style—plus a few tips for how to put it all together with your own wardrobe staples. From clean and classic to cool and edgy, there’s a little something for everyone.
Grace Kelly
If Grace Kelly is your go-to style icon, you’re a lover of timeless and classic pieces that look luxe even when you’re dressed down. Think pearl jewelry, frame handbags, and crisp white button down shirts you can pair with pencil skirts or tailored pants.
Sophia Loren
Drawn to Sophia Loren’s sultry, “la dolce vita” style? Choosing clothing that accentuates your curves is a must, so look for more fitted and tailored silhouettes. As for accessories, a headscarf, a pair of oversized sunglasses, and romantic jewelry pieces will give you that 60s Italian flair.
Penelope Tree
Mad about this model’s mod looks? Graphic line and geometric shapes are your new BFFs. A top with oversized paillettes, an A-line mini dress, and a fitted black turtleneck are all wardrobe essentials to capture her swinging London style. Don’t forget to finish your outfit off with sculptural jewelry pieces.
Debbie Harry
If the music icon’s rocker chic look is your ideal vibe, leather pieces (whether real or faux) should play a key role in your wardrobe. For example, layer a moto jacket over a tank or vintage tee then finish with some chunky chain jewelry and smudged eyeliner for her signature edge.
