This Spring Makeup Routine Makes Looking Fresh So Simple

We’re big on the belief that the ideal seasonal makeup look is whatever you want it to be. Maybe it’s bold, maybe it’s demure, maybe it’s playful—the choice is yours, and the fact that you have endless options to express yourself though cosmetics is a beautiful thing. That said, it never hurts to look around for new inspiration, whether that’s so pare down a more complicated routine or try out some different shades and finishes. Our contribution to your inspo folder? A super simple spring look that’s a more glowed-up version of you!

To help you out, we’ve stocked The Shoppe with makeup and skincare by a few of our favorite brands (including Doucce, Doll 10, Skin Gym, and more that we know you’re going to fall in love with) so you can achieve a full spring face! We’re talking lids, lips, and lashes as well as everything you need to prime and perfect. So if what you’re after this spring is a rosy glow that’s as fresh as a cherry blossom, keep reading for tips and product recommendations that make it so simple.

Step 1: Prep & Prime

Simply put, makeup looks fresher on a primed canvas, so don’t skimp on good skincare! For an extra plump and smooth base, prep with hydrating lip and eye masks and a pore-blurring primer that will make your foundation glide on and last longer.

Step 2: Build Your Base

The key to fresh spring makeup is making your skin look naturally flawless. To achieve this, even out any redness or discoloration with your preferred base products. Want a dewy finish with good coverage? Look for a hydrating liquid foundation. Prefer something more mattifying for your oily skin? Try a powder formula instead. For the most natural look, skip the foundation and simply apply a touch of concealer where you like and blend well with a brush or damp sponge. Set with powder as desired.

Step 3: Add a Faux Flush

For the simplest routine, choose a color and formula that can be used on cheeks and eyes for a monochromatic look that mimics your natural flush. Apply with a fluffy blush to diffuse the color on the apples of the cheeks toward the temples, across the nose, and lightly over the lids. We love a palette that includes a few shades for your blush/bronzer but also some illuminating highlighters for an even more radiant effect. And don’t forget a fluffy face brush to apply it all with ease!

Step 4: Define Your Eyes

The magic of this look is how unfussy it is, so when it comes to the eyes, less is more. Add a little definition by filling in your brows and make eyelashes look naturally more lush with liner right at the lash line followed by a coat or two of volumizing mascara.

Step 5: Seal with a Kiss

If fresh, natural, and glow-y is the look you’re after, skip the super pigmented lipstick and slick on a tinted gloss instead. Keep the monochromatic effect going and choose a shade similar to what you’re wearing on your eyes and cheeks, and add a little liner if you need some more definition. Want to transition into nighttime or add a little more drama? Go a few shades deeper than your natural hue. A mattifying formula lipstick or liquid lip will also last through your dinner and drinks.
