Rachel Zoe's 2024 Met Gala Favorites Will Inspire Your Next Look
The first Monday of May is one of our CURATEUR-in-Chief’s favorite days of the year. Why? Because it’s the day of the annual Met Gala! Fashion lovers like Rachel look forward to this moment all year long because it’s a celebration of art, creativity, and history—plus we get so see some of our favorite stars wearing some epic looks.
This year was no exception. In tandem with the Met’s exhibition, “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion”, the theme for the gala was “Garden of Time”. And as always, it’s up for interpretation. Some attendees came covered in floral patterns or fabric rosettes, others embraced the time element through deconstructed materials or hourglass shapes. As a fashion expert and stylist, Rachel looks to the overall effect—from concept to execution—when it comes to naming her favorites, and every detail matters. Her top picks were those that nodded to the theme while highlighting the individual beauty of the wearer. For example, Kylie Jenner’s statuesque Oscar de la Renta gown, delicately accessorized with a rose in her hair. Or her forever red carpet (or in this case, green carpet!) favorite Nicole Kidman, who donned a recreation of an archival Balenciaga.
Once again, Rachel was thrilled to chat all things Met Gala for an after show recap on E!. But in case you missed it, we’re sharing the looks that took her breath away—plus some details and trends you can try IRL by stopping into The Shoppe!
Nicole Kidman
Nicole’s black and white couture Balenciaga gown looked to the archives for inspiration but the overall effect was timelessly glamorous. Try out this classic, contrasting color combo as your next dressy event by pairing a crisp white button down shirt with a black skirt. Then stack on some sparkling bracelets to top it all off.

Kylie Jenner
Kylie sported the color of the season with her Old Hollywood-style Oscar de la Renta gown. The shapely silhouette was inspired by garden statues and fans noted that the aesthetic—complete with a white rose in her hair—felt somewhat bridal. As for trends you can take away from her head-to-toe look, white staples accessorized with delicate details will be a go-to combo this summer.

Phoebe Dynevor
Rachel loved the ethereal effect of the Bridgerton star’s blush, custom Victoria Beckham gown which stood out in a sea of black, white, and beige looks on the green carpet. While perfect for spring and summer, the soft pink hue is a great choice year-round when you want to feel as glamorous as a garden rose.

Kerry Washington
Of course Rachel was a fan of the Scandal star’s violet velvet Oscar de la Renta gown, but another detail she couldn’t take her eyes off of was Washington’s sparkling earring stack. Try it for yourself by layering on the diamond (real or faux!) studs in varying shapes and sizes.

Jessica Biel
Biel’s glamorous crystal and feather covered Tamara Ralph gown was juxtaposed with her slightly messy, beachy waves—a hairstyle Rachel Zoe loves, too! Want to try this combo out for your next formal affair? Prep your dresses with a primer or detangler before drying and wrapping sections around a curling iron or wave wand. Finish off with some styling cream for texture and voila!
